Welcome to Sunflower Glass Studio NZ At Sunflower Glass Studio NZ, we are passionate about celebrating artistry, craftsmanship, and the enduring beauty of glass. As proud suppliers of genuine Effetre 104 glass from the world-renowned island of Murano, Italy, we bring over 100 exquisite colours in the form of rods, frit, and millefiori directly to your creative hands.
But our story doesn't stop at supply—we are creators at heart. As a husband-and-wife team, we pour our souls into crafting unique, handcrafted glass pieces that radiate light, colour, and meaning. Each piece is as one-of-a-kind as the story behind it.
Our Story: Honoring Jess's Legacy In 2011, our lives were forever changed. We lost our only child, Jessica Louise Hosking, while she was on her Overseas Experience in Paris, France. Jess was vibrant, artistic, and full of life—a true water baby and creative soul who loved everything from painting and photography to jewellery making and music.
Devastated by her passing, we searched for a way to honour her memory. Among her belongings, we found a treasure trove of gemstones she had lovingly collected. Inspired by her creative spirit, Sandra began exploring silversmithing, which led to the creation of MS J Jewellery Ltd in 2012, named after Mark, Sandra, and Jess.
As the years passed, our journey evolved. We discovered the art of glasswork—first with a kiln in 2017, and later with torchwork in 2019. This opened up a world of creativity, allowing us to design signature pieces like Funky Fish, Sand Beads, and Orbs, as well as sunflower-inspired wall and window art.
In 2021, on the 10th anniversary of Jess's passing, we rebranded as Sunflower Glass Studio NZ—a heartfelt nod to Jess's favourite flower. Every piece we create carries her essence, with a tiny sunflower on each necklace and her name proudly embedded in our logo.
Our Commitment Today, we work in a purpose-built studio in Whitianga, Coromandel, where every piece is lovingly handcrafted. We waste no glass—every fragment is repurposed, ensuring sustainability in our art. Our materials come from the finest sources in Murano, Italy, and America, ensuring unparalleled quality.
Our mission is to bring beauty, light, and Jess's enduring spirit into your space. Each creation tells a story—a story of love, loss, and the transformative power of art.
A Touch of Remembrance To honor Jess's memory, two special chairs sit on Tairua Beach and Piha Beach, where she was a lifeguard. These serene spots serve as reminders of her vibrant spirit and love for life.
Explore our collection, and let us bring a piece of our heart into your home. At Sunflower Glass Studio NZ, no two creations are the same—because just like Jess, every piece is truly unique.
